The FL Bar President's Pro Bono Service Awards Committee for the 13th Circuit, chaired by Carter Andersen, selected Jenay Iurato as the FL Bar President's Pro Bono Service Award recipient for the 13th Circuit. The FL Bar President's Pro Bono Service Award is awarded to one outstanding attorney from each of the 20 Circuits and one out of state FL Bar attorney in recognition of their significant legal services to the poor.
The Tampa Hispanic Bar Association (THBA) nominated Ms. Iurato for this award to recognize her for her significant pro bono work done on behalf of human trafficking survivors. Ms. Iurato provided more than 350 pro bono hours in 2018 and over 270 pro bono hours in 2019, assisting human trafficking survivors with expungement of their criminal records and other legal services. Ms. Iurato has devoted her efforts over the last 6 years raising awareness of human trafficking and its impact in our local community and the state. During the last two years, Ms. Iurato has provided over 250 hours as a trainer about human trafficking, as a legislative advocate and as a guest speaker on various panels about human trafficking. Ms. Iurato, a co-managing member with her husband at the Iurato Law Firm, PL, is a past president of the THBA and currently serves on the inaugural THBA Foundation Board of Directors. The FL Bar President's Pro Bono Service Awards will be presented at the Florida Supreme Court on January 30, 2020.
