Pro Bono Opportunities

Opportunities for March 2019

Bay Area Legal Services' List of Case Summaries above provides brief descriptions of the clients’ legal problems. The case summaries are listed by type of legal problem.   If members are interested in a case, they must contact THBA Member Elva Kennis, Case Referral Manager, at  Elva will then provide the parties’ names so that the volunteer attorney may conduct a conflict check. If the conflict check clears, Elva will forward the case referral packet of information to the volunteer attorney and notify the client so that the client may contact the attorney to schedule an appointment for a consultation. The attorney notifies Elva whether or not pro bono representation will be provided after the consultation has taken place.

The Volunteer Lawyers Program provides professional liability insurance, reimbursement of litigation costs, training, mentor attorneys, interpreters and court reporters to assist our volunteer attorneys. Both Stetson and Cooley Law School students are willing to provide pro bono assistance with research and writing. There are links for requesting law student assistance on the List above.
