CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS: READ TO DREAM INITIATIVE
THBA is proud to support and participate in this year's John Germany Young Readers “Read to Dream” Initiative. We need THBA members to read to school age children on select Wednesday afternoons, beginning on September 27, 2017 (see all dates below). The Read to Dream initiative is a program created to raise the lowest reading levels of children in Hillsborough County by providing engaging reading activities and books for children within some of our highest at risk or underserved communities.
THBA has been assigned to West Tampa Elementary, located at 2700 W. Cherry Street, in Tampa, Florida 33607 on Wednesday afternoons, from 3:30 p.m.– 4 or 4:30pm, September 27 through November 15, 2017 to read to small groups as part of the Read to Dream program. THBA is committed to send one (1) reader for each session.
Please help make a huge impact with youth in our community by signing up for one (or more) of the dates below. Please click on the link below to sign up – we need you!
All sessions begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. and last until 4 or 4:30 p.m. The available dates are as follows:
PLEASE NOTE: Every volunteer for the Read to Dream Initiative will need to do the following:
1. Application: Complete a volunteer application for Hillsborough County Public schools. (Even if you filled out an application last year, you will need to fill it out again this year. The County requires a new application each school year). The application should take you no more than 7 minutes to complete and must be completed before your volunteer shift.
2. Parking Registration: Parking is available in front of the school’s Main Office and adjacent to the same. Volunteers must register with the Front Office prior to each session.
3. Driver’s License: Please make sure to bring your Driver’s License for identification purposes.
